Include the software repository related to your SuSE Linux distribution at: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/science/openSUSE_11.* (supported are SuSE 11.1-11.3 & SLE_10 & SLE_11). This repository is not included in the list you can select repositories from within yast - you have to provide the correct url.
Install the packages python-scipy, python-matplotlib,python-matplotlib-tk from this repository.
Install python-numpy-devel (needed for the MDP installation). If yast reports a version conflict (python-numpy & python-numpy-devel) accept the first offered solution.
